A day of American truck filming in the UK. On the south coast for filming of a crime reconstruction documentary on one of America's most infamous serial killers.
July 2019 edition of Classic Truck UK magazine front cover and feature article. Featuring the rig with a 4 page article on the truck, its history and the running restoration over the last 7 - 8 years.
One of the most scenic and enjoyable weddings we've had the privilege of attending. An absolutely pristine Autumn's afternoon on the south coast of England travelling in the big American truck from the wedding at Chichester Guildhall over to the Langstone Hotel, situated on my favourite island in the British Isles.. Hayling Island of course!
All the best for the future to the really lovely couple James and Sarah Talbot. Photos courtesy of Tim Hills Photography - https://www.timhillsphotography.co.uk/ A massive thank you to the thousands (likely tens of thousands) who attended the convoy last Sunday!
Words cannot describe all of the organisers utter amazement at the sheer volume of cars and trucks that turned out with only one week's notice, not to mention the thousands of spectators who either tagged along, joined in at the service stops or lined the bridges and overpasses all the way around the M25. I personally had over 65,000 views of the Big Rig Hire UK event page on Facebook over the 7 days leading up to the convoy...! I don't believe I went under a single bridge that did not have at least a dozen people waving off it, hanging flags and giving us the good old fashioned air horn arm pump.. All going well we will be organising another for next September when it will be the 1 year anniversary of Burt's passing and the 11 year anniversary of Jerry's passing on. David Wearing (R) from Church Enstone and Danny Walker (L) with their giant American Peterbilt trucks on the Saturday of a very wet and windy Blenheim Festival of Transport Picture: Ric Mellis 26/8/2018 Woodstock.
Calling all American truck owners and enthusiasts.... there is going to be an M25 convoy.. hopefully the most Yank trucks in a convoy ever in the UK in honour of the legendary Burt Reynolds who passed away on 6th September -
9.00 - 10.00: Lakeside/Thurrock Services 11.00-12.00: South Mimms Services 13.30-14.00: Cobham Services 14.45-15.30: Clacket Lane Services 16.00: Lakeside/Thurrock Services This is being organised by Motor Show Events and they have asked George Matthews to lead with his Snowman / Bandit Kenworth W900 (pic here). So think back to the reason most of us love these trucks.. this is for the star of one of the two most famous trucking movies in history. For me personally this will also be about honouring Jerry Reed (the actor, musician, singer, truck driver who was the one and only Snowman in Smokey and the Bandit) and who also passed away 10 years ago this month. Let's make this BIG. The Big Rig will be at the Blenheim Palace Festival of Transport on the 26th and 27th August.
The Festival of Transport 2017 at Blenheim Palace saw the introduction of the Electric Vehicle Zone featuring a range of electric vehicle manufacturers, companies and promoters. This ground-breaking content sat alongside a display of over 500 vintage, classic and modern classic vehicles and in doing so, broke all previous attendance records seen with almost 20,000 visitors in attendance. As the premier vehicle event of the August Bank Holiday weekend and the only joint classic and electric vehicle event in the county, be sure to join us at this family friendly and simply stunning ‘Treasure House of England’ venue. http://www.classicshows.org/blenheim-palace-festival-transport-sun-26-mon-27-august-2018/ In the latest (March 2018) edition of Classic Truck magazine my attention was drawn to this article.... "Dangerous liaisons - Stories of truckers having illicit sexual encounters while away from home......" What I'd like to know is who told them.. Anyway, all publicity is good publicity though isn't it??
